Moovin’ and Groovin’ Programs

  • Spring is in the Air
    Stories, songs, finger play, movement and games
    For ages 2-9
    After a long winter every one is glad when spring arrives. Aren’t you? Through stories, songs dance and games children will experience the awakenings of spring.
  • Monster Mash
    Finding friendly monsters through Music, Story Art, Games, Dance and Food
    For children ages 3-7
    The Monster Mash is an event where children are able to meet friendly monsters in stories songs and games. Masks are made for our dance as wild fun monsters. (Optional) After they have worked up an appetite they are able to create their own monster snack to eat.
  • Happy Earth Day
    The Earth is Our Home- Stories, Dance, Songs and Games
    For ages 3-9
    Earth Day is every day, yet is acknowledged only on our calendars on April 22. Through stories, songs dance and games children will learn the importance of the earth and what they can do to help her help us every day.
  • There is Always Something You Can Do
    Learning about conflict resolution through stories, songs, games and dance
    For children ages 4-9
    Using music and movement and stories and games in your classroom can help young children experience cooperation, communication and community and thereby increase their understanding of social relationships.

Winter and/or Christmas Programs
For children of varied ages (depends on activities)

  • Winter Solstice Story and Songs with the Snowflake Fairy
    In celebration of the Winter Solstice, Magical Creations offers an
    integrated creative arts program using music, movement and drama. The
    Winter Solstice is a time to honor the longest night of the year and
    plant seeds of hope for the New Year. As the Snowflake Fairy, Su Eaton will tell a story about how two Native American children might celebrate the Solstice. While telling the story, the group will use body movements to enact the story, and a frame drum
    for participatory chants. Afterwards, Su uses her guitar to sing fun familiar songs and songs about winter. Then, amidst laughter, each child receives fairy dust from the Snowflake Fairy to take home.

  • Su’s Moovin’ and Groovin’ Concert with a winter theme,
    and two Snowflake Fairies painting
    faces.
    This program is an hour and a half (depending on number of children and time there may be an additional cost for extra face painters or We could just have Snowflake Fairies painting faces in conjunction with another entertainer or activity that you are providing) and is for children ages 2-9. (all ages if just painting faces)
  • Dr. Suess’s story of How the Grinch Stole Christmas with members of the audience participation followed by Su’s Moovin’ and Groovin’ Concert with a winter theme.
    This program is two hours and is for children of all ages.
  • Sing, Dance and Play with the Snowflake Fairy!
    Su Eaton of Magical Creations provides participatory entertainment with her Moovin’ and Groovin’ Program with the theme of Winter. We create a movement poem together about winter and sing winter songs. She leaves each child with a special winter surprise to remember the joys of winter and the fairy that lives within each one of them.

Storybook Theatre
which includes : (for other stories available ask Su)

  • Where the Wild Things Are Production
    for ages 5-9
    We will make masks, dress up in furry attire, play instruments, create a Wild Things chant, and act out this story to share with an audience be it parents, siblings or other children in the school or program.

Circus Magic
for ages 7-10
Two hours or over a week’s time (meeting one hour a week- such as Vacation Week)
Great for a fundraiser or fair
We will explore and create our very own circus, using stories as an inspiration. First we will create a mini circus out of recycled/ reusable materials, which we will video and show in the end. The remanding time will be spent learning and creating a variety of circus performing skills such as acrobats, clowns, juggling, trapeze, tight rope, human cannon ball, animals and trainers (imaginary, of course!) Using props, costumes, masks, face paints and music. This circus program is purely an exercise for the imagination. There will be a performance in the end for all to see, including our mini circus on video.
The Objectives for the participants:
- To introduce the playful possibilities of recycled/reusable materials
- To engage the active imagination of participants towards a common goal of two exciting circus’s
- To offer an environmentally concerned message about the constructive use and reuse of resources to children
- To teach values of mutual respect through the creative process so that children may take these values into their daily lives to respect all life on earth

Just For Fun! Dance, Singing, Drama and Games
for ages 5-9
1hr-1and1/2 hrs
Each day we will create dances, play theatre games, sing and play cooperative games. Cooperative games are games where people work together and everyone is a winner. These games include a parachute, running, sitting, singing and guessing, and of course your imagination. Creative movement structures, props, instruments, taped music, singing books and found objects will be used to inspire creative movement explorations and pieces. Children’s ideas are welcome. The main goal is to have fun. The children are encouraged to work/play together and independently, in a supportive atmosphere. Families are welcome to participate in an informal sharing on the last class.

Art Classes (need storage space)
Material costs are additional based on number of children and materials used.

  • Jewelry
    for ages 6-10/
    Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, pins, or rings. Using plastic, glass, wood or your own homemade paper or fimo beads; colored wire;safety pins, paperclips and tape; spices or corn; noodles; stretchy string, wire string or pipecleaners.
  • Puppet making and show
    For ages 5-9
    Puppets and marionettes made from many different materials which may include socks, yarn, felt, and recycled materials. We will perform a show with our puppets we make.
  • Mask Making
    for ages 8 -10
    Gauze masks that mold to your face and paper bird masks with feather or paper feathers. May involve theatre games and creative movement if masks are finished in time.
  • Sculptures
    for ages 6-10
    We will be experimenting with different mediums for self expression ,making sculptures using food, wire, nature, recycled materials, paper, clay.
  • Doll Making
    for ages 9-12
    " My dolly she can sing, sing, my dolly she can dance, dance, when dolly sings and dances , oh, she looks like this…" -Arlo Guthrie's My Dolly song. Read and learn this song and maybe make up our own song about our dollies. Must have hand -sewing skills. We will be hand-sewing cloth/sock dolls and if time, make clothes for our dolls.
  • Insect Art
    for ages 5-7
    Insects are an important part of our eco-system. We will read about, sing about and make all kinds of insects. Insects that fly, bounce, some we make up, insect games, even masks to become a bug.

Creative Movement
for ages 6-9

Creative movement structures, singing, creating stories and poetry to move to and act out, Using props, instruments, taped music, singing, and found objects will be used to inspire creative movement pieces/explorations.
Student ideas are welcome and encouraged. We may decide to have an informal sharing on the last class with audience participation.

Creative Writing and Drawing
for ages 9-12
1 or more hours
Creative writing and drawing is a class where we will explore ideas that may inspire stories, journal writings, poetry, and drawings. We will make our own books for our creations. We will create together as a group, in pairs and as individuals.
